Taco Mesa

Really tasty!! Went in for a late night bite after a long drive. Their horchata was really good. Their nachos were superb. I loved their tacos al pastor although because I chose no radish they were served bare which I’m not used to. The food is a bit on the greasy side but overall really tasty. Loved that they had outdoor heaters because it was chilly that night. It’s a tight squeeze because they have several tables for 4 in a small space. But people are in and out pretty quickly even though they were packed on a Saturday night.

Unbelievably good food. Blackened chicken anything is my favorite. Been coming to Taco Mesa for 25 years; I now live out of state but have to stop and eat there whenever I'm in Orange County.

Bomb tacos, staff was super helpful. Fresh salsa bar. All around great experience.

It wasn't 100% authentic but still pretty good

The veggie tostada salad they have here is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. I'll start craving it almost anytime I'm doing a trip to Mesa or Newport, so a lot of those trips will include a stop here. Don't let the fact that it's a veggie salad fool you. This is going to fill you up, and is probably on the higher side as far as calorie counts, with the fried tortillas, avocado wedges, and sour cream. I top it off at the salsa bar with salsa verde and their excellent cauliflower escabeche.

Ive been going here since the early 90s and would drive 45 minutes to get here with my mom. Now I live within a mile and its still my favorite tacos / burritos / mexi food spot. If you've never been, GO! Try any of the specials of the day/week. Always have something new and interesting and its always great!! Thanks for the amazing food!!

This place is so good and the environment is really cool! Been going here my entire life. Always love coming here. My number one choice for Mexican food. 5 stars.

Oh,yeah.... They got some great food here. I had the best Chicken Quesadilla ever here.

I had a long wait at the DMV across the street and it was lunch time so I decided to eat here. I can see why this place has such high ratings - it's a great restaurant. I got the carnitas burrito (dry, but the cashier recommends it wet) and it was so good. The cashier was super nice, and the service was really fast even though there were a lot of patrons. I enjoyed my lunch and I will definitely be back to try some other options on the menu.

It's okay. For me it's kind of below average Mexican joint. It was a bit more Americanized than I'd like it to be. I wish they had a more kick to the food.

The service is good and the food comes out pretty quick. They give you a lot of food as well and the pricing is pretty good. it is not another cheap Mexican food place. The food unfortunately was very plain. It's not inedible but overall I don't think I'll be coming back. There are simply cheaper, better tasting Mexican food places around.

Can't find better tacos in the area. Always love the vibe, friendly service and choices of food. Takes a little time to make (it's not fast food like McDonald's) and seating can be challenging at peak times but you CANNOT go wrong with the food!

loved the food, ordering was a breeze as the guy behind the counter was helpful when I asked questions. I'm not from the area, but will definitely be back! highly recommend the Mayan horchata, it has a light chocolate flavor to it.

Having been disappointed in other taco places, I cautiously wanted to try this place after reading all the positive reviews and learning that they really make an effort to be healthy, sustainable, and authentic. Upon entering, it immediately felt like a chill and laid-back atmosphere. The menu has many incredible-sounding items, that I'll have to make many repeat visits to try everything. Every item my friend and I ordered were beyond our expectations - absolutely delicious! The tacos were stuffed (whereas other tacos I've had skimp out on the filling). We've already told a couple friends about this place and plan to return soon. Thank you Taco Mesa for caring about your ingredients and your customers.

Very average taco. I tried fried fish, shredded beef and Al pastor tacos. The fish and Al pastor meat tasted good. However, the ingredients of the taco did not mesh well together. The chips, guacamole and salsas tasted ok, but only after I added more salt. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want a great authentic taco

I always go on Tuesday when their spectacular taco Tuesday lineup is available but I always end up spending like $30 because the torta is amazing and comes on amazing bread, and the lobster burrito is so fire and the guac and juices are always fresh.

Best Sunday brunch in Orange county. Been coming here for years and I definitely recommend one of the best combinations of unique Mexican food and homemade ingredients homemade tortillas fantastic margaritas. Nice patio and great indoor seating.

Taco Mesa is an outstanding local spot for handmade, homestyle Mexican dining. You'll find that all the food here is lovingly prepared to at least the standard you might expect at a nicer restaurant, however, you (and your wallet) will be delighted to learn that this is merely casual dining done at it's very best. Not satisfied with just handmade salsas, the chefs at Taco Mesa also freshly prepare all sauces, entrees and sides. Even a simple side "with Mexican vegetables" is a party in your mouth - zucchini, greens, mushrooms, roasted corn... perfectly seasoned and not soggy... where has this been all my life? So what's the big deal you may ask? Well, let me just say... once you have the privilege of wrapping your mouth around a bite of warm, juicy enchiladas soaked in zesty tomatillo sauce, you'll ask yourself two things: (1) why does this food taste so damn good? (2) why have I been settling for anything less than this?

The absolute bomb Mexican Cuisine! I guarantee you’ve next had anything like it. I’m from Michigan and LOVE TO EAT! You will dig the ambience and relaxed and artful decor. Sit on the patio and take in the spanish music and streets of Costa Mesa!

Omg that was a great burrito. Salsa bar is also on point. The Jalapeno salsa had me drinking it.

This is a hybrid 'authentically flavored' Mexican restaurant with a hip twist on some of the dishes. If you are looking for simple tacos, look elsewhere. If you want something new and exciting - anything here is tasty

I freaking love this place! I've been coming here since 2004 but haven't been here in a while. I forgot how much I love the food. I've been trying all the other places around here recently and finally came back and realized how much better the food is.

Delicious food at a reasonable price. Most of the seating is outside near a busy street, so it can be pretty noisy. There is a parking lot in the back.

Best Mexican Resturant! Food was amazing

I had heard of this taco joint for a while now, so when I was in the area recently I decided to check it out with my bf. Easy to see from the street with graffiti art on the exterior. Lots of (covered) patio tables and Inside was kept clean with a counter to order from. I had one steak and one shrimp taco with a side of pinto beans and rice. The rice was amazing, the beans were amazing, and both tacos were great. I will definitely be back for more!

Very delicious food. I took a burrito named carnitas and asked for it wet and it was very good. Really big portion.

I've been eating at Taco Mesa for almost 30 years. If I have guests from out of town I bring them here. I've never had a bad meal here. This place serves food that should cost $25, but it costs $10 because it's not on a glass plate. Get anything and it will be good, but I highly recommend whatever they are serving as the special for the evening.

Another one of orange county's little gems. Some of the best Mexican food spots around serving all the favorites and some new styles. The tacos alone are worth going there for. They also have a nice selection of horchata. The pink building is hard to miss lol. It can get busy and seating might become sparse during rush hour meal time but I'd still brave it all for a bite of their food.

Great bang for your buck. A heads up, the tacos are a bit larger than your average street taco. Usually I eat 3 street tacos; I can only have 1.5 to Taco Mesa. The flavors are excellent. Now that is a happy taco story and in S Cali we are all about HAPPY STORIES! Happy Tacos for Happy people! I have always had a nice experience at Taco Mesa. I am not sure how I missed to write a review on this taco stand.

This place arguably serves some of the best Mexican food I have ever had! Any visitors to the area are highly recommended to stop here for a bite to eat or take out! I will definitely stop here again the next time I am in the area.

I dont think I could ever describe how completely AMAZING this place is. Best authentic Mexican food around. I eat here ATLEAST once a week. Carne asada plate everytime! But if I absolutely must choose one thing that I think Could be better it would be the parking. Parking is very very small and I think it's very very busy.

Healthy food is what you will get here. Its cheesy and delicious. The ingredients are so pure and fresh that you always feel an energy of recharge after a serving at Taco Mesa. My favorite salsas are from this spot. Pickled cauliflower is fantastic.

Food is really good, I don't recall when they switched things up to being healthy but it's definitely a good stop if you don't mind sitting outside. The one time I went there with the family it rained, but at least the eating area was covered and there was a heater going. The food made up for the welcomed socal rain.

Can’t top this place in authentic Mexican food. I Go here everytime I visit Southern California. These types of places are hard to find out in Arizona. Try their calamari tacos and blackened chicken. Top notch quality tasting food!

Came here on a Monday for a team lunch and there was already a decent crowd by 12:15! We were impressed with the guacamole/chips and lobster burrito (which had zucchini and corn in it). Steak was a little chewy, but I’m willing to give it another shot. This place also has parking and outdoor seating! Next time, I’ll be visiting during happy hour.
